Indian ICCR Undergraduate Scholarships offered

under Nehru Memorial/Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship

Schemes 2024/25

Applications are invited from eligible Sri Lankans for the award of 60 undergraduate

scholarships offered by the Government of India under the Nehru Memorial/Rajiv Gandhi

Scholarship Schemes for the academic year 2024/25.

General Eligibility Requirements:

(a) Should be a citizen of Sri Lanka.

(b) Age limit should between 18-40 years by the deadline 25.02.2024.

(c) The applicant should have a minimum of three passes at the 2022 G.C.E. (A/L)

examination in the relevant fields conducted by the Department of Examinations,

Sri Lanka.

(d) Should possess a good knowledge of English. (Should have obtained at least a ā€œCā€

pass in English at the G.C.E. O/L examination and ā€œSā€ pass at the G.C.E A/L

examination)

(e) Should be in good health and ready to live in India during the period of study.

(f) The applicant should not be registered or following a course at a state university in

Sri Lanka as an internal student in a basic degree programme (a student selected

by UGC based on the G.C.E. A/L results).

Only one scholarship program, either the Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship Program

or the Nehru Memorial Scholarship Program, is open to applicants for the

Engineering (BE/B. Tech) stream.

The ICCR scholarship council does not arrange admission in

Medical/Paramedical (Nursing/Physiotherapy/Anesthesia etc.)/ Fashion

Design/Law.

Medium of instructions: English

Terms of award:

The Scholarship covers full tuition fees for the entire duration of the course, monthly

sustenance allowance, and an annual grant for books and stationery. In addition, air

fare to the nearest destination in India and an annual grant for educational tours to

various parts of the country, apart from these several other auxiliary benefits are also

offered. Selected candidates would also be provided hostel facility inside the

respective campus.

Special notes:

a) Candidates who are awarded this scholarship would not be considered for

university admission process of the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.

b) Award of the scholarship Conditions laid down in this notification may vary as

per the criteria imposed by the Indian authorities without prior notice.

c) Candidates who received scholarship would select the Higher Educational

institutes recognized by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka.

d) If any student declines the offer after the selection process, he/she shall not be

considered for any of the scholarships offered by Ministry of Education.

e) Candidates who have already been nominated for a scholarship offered by the

Ministry of Education, will not be considered for the same level of study, under

this scholarship scheme.

f)Extension of the period of the scholarship will not be recommended by this

Ministry.

b) The deadline of the submission of the application is 25th February 2024

c) Applicants should submit only one application via online portal and not

required to send by post.

d) Any statement in the application, which is found to be incorrect/false will liable to

disqualification at any time and will lead to the withdrawal of the award.

e) Incomplete in any respect or received late, will be rejected.

Nominations & selections:

Candidates will be shortlisted based on their Z. score and will be called for an

interview by the Ministry of Education. Sri Lanka, with a short notice.

The nomination will be forwarded to the Indian ICCR scholarship awarding

authority through High Commission of India. No candidate should treat his/her

nomination for this Scholarship as the confirmation of award and it is a matter

entirely within the discretion of the awarding authority.

Any form of canvassing either written or verbal will be considered as a

disqualification for a scholarship.
